We had an instagram post recently that generated a lot of interest, so we thought we should probably share what it was about here too.
We based it around the things that a lot of people don’t expect when they think about staying in a shepherd’s hut.
We probably need to add them all to our Frequently Asked Questions list as well!
So here goes…
Yes, we do have fully fitted bathrooms with flushing loos and great showers. The one in Yonder Hut is copper walled and absolutely gorgeous – and Dapple has an outdoor copper shower and bath, as well as shower in the en-suite bathroom. Hither has a fabulous shower room and the cutest stone sink,
There’s lashings of hot water, so no need to worry about that one either.
Yes, all the huts have proper electricity, so no worries at all about charging anything or having to sit in the dark 😉
The beds are sooo comfortable, with Naturalmat mattresses. Hither has a full sized double bed and Yonder and Dapple have king-sized beds.
All the huts have hobs inside and pizza ovens outside. Hither and Yonder are woodfired pizza ovens and Dapple is a gas-fired pizza oven, which is so quick!
All three huts have firepits outside, we provide all the wood you need and instructions, so you’ll be cooking over wood like a pro in no time!
Hither and Yonder Huts both have wood-fired hot tubs that take about 90 minutes to warm up. There’s nothing better than sinking into a hot tub that you’ve heated yourself and sitting back and watching the stars fill the sky.
Dapple is our spa hut and has its own sauna, it’s electric powered so is very easy to use – you’ll love it!
While we’re on the subject of spas, we have our own shepherd hut treatment room and if you book in advance of your stay, you can enjoy a facial or massage courtesy of our lovely therapist, Gilly.
Shepherd huts are cool in summer and cosy in the winter. Dapple and Yonder have electric heating as well as the woodburner and Hither has a woodburner that makes the hut toasty and warm.
Our meat is mostly raised on the farm, so food miles are practically zero. You’re provided with bacon, eggs and milk for your breakfast as part of your stay.
Lastly, we’re real foodies and love exploring the area, so we thoroughly recommend a visit to the Cotley or the Candlelight and we’re very happy to recommend other places to eat and visit.
Are there any other shepherd hut myths that we need to explode – let us know below!
